[Chapter-delegates] Dear Bob Hinden: The inconvenient truth is that ISOC fundraising is not paying off

I've introduced several org members to ISOC even publicly standing up at
an industry meeting to recommend joining. With one of my day job hats as
owner of a network services brokerage I feel I should have sent ISOC an
invoice for the usual fee so I could donate this to the chapter. I've
never received an acknowledgement let alone a thank you. I'm not miffed
- just underlying the comment from Glenn.

The lack of benefit even expense coverage locally does means chapter
volunteer time cannot be devoted to promoting fund raising for ISOC. A
point I raised in 1999.

I hope the trustees are ahead of the curve concerning Dave's points and
Christopher's before him. When I wrote to support the .org bid the use
of PIR funds to run ISOC was not part of the .org deal as far as I recall.

It is important that ISOC shows the .org franchise is being purposed as
ISOC committed. We don't need attempts to prise this away at this
critical time.
