Dear all,

In Slovenia the ccTLD is from 1992 in the hands of the Educational and
"academic" network, which
owned by Slovenian government. There is no body that have an insight in
the politics of .SI
registration. The applied policy was very restricted, e.g..g. we were not
allowed to register as "ISOC".si, (in 1996) or "Internet Society", they
requested
we to add the word "drustvo" - meaning "society". So our domain is:
"isoc-drustvo.si".
They were protecting their monopole regarding all Internet issues (they are
the biggest ISPs in the country) and the monopole is still in place.
They are member of EUrId as well together with Czechs and in all bodies
dealing with domain registration
policy.

We have been registered under our legislation rules at the Slovenian
court as
"society of professionals" and that was the excuse for requesting the
word "drustvo" to be part
of our sub-domain.
However, few years ago the registration of sub-domains was allowed to
several registrars in the country that
are charging the registration (the restriction of the dictated "sub-domans"
was relaxed), but the TLD is still in the hands of that organization
without no national body (the director of ARNES).

With regards,

Borka
