[Chapter-delegates] ISOC approaches to privacy breach legislation?

Dear Narelle,

Thank you for raising this topic. 

Let me join you in asking our Chapter members to share with us the approach their country and/or local region is taking regarding privacy breaches. 

This is a topic of discussion in Europe. I also understand that some countries in Latin America have introduced data breach notification provisions in their data protection law. Other countries may be taking a sectoral approach (e.g. for x industry), and still others currently have not enacted any rules/guidelines. I imagine we would find that there are a wide variety of approaches across the world.

What is the reaction across communities in Australia to the proposed legislation?
