Dear Colleagues,
I hope this email will meet you well.
Sierra Leone now has plans to undertake a nationwide digitization of civil registration records ( to include births & deaths, marriages, etc)
with a view to put in place an integrated and functional data
registration system.
Currently, a research is being carried out on ICT and Policy Landscape and the
review of laws aimed at digitizing such records and to address great
challenges such as infrastructure and preservation of private data.
Research objectives seeks to address an ICT based solution (to include mobile
and computer based solution, etc) and to develop policy recommendations
for the introduction of an ICT solution for births and deaths within
the broader civil registration landscape and that of current
legal/policy framework of Sierra Leone.
As it stands, all processes for births and deaths registration are manual with no privacy and data protection laws.
In the light of implementing this project first time, grateful if you
would share your country's experience (with possible links) to help a
suggest a suitable solution for our post war Sierra Leone.
Anticipating your kind and favourable response.
Regards,
Dominic LaminISOC, Sierra Leone Chapter

Subject: [Chapter-delegates] [Istanbul] Government working on draft to restrict social media in Turkey
Hi,
I read this news on hurriyetdailynews.com:
---
The Turkish government launched yesterday a study to restrict social
media, an attempt that has been inspired by the Gezi protests that have
spread across the country.
The Justice Ministry has started working on a draft on crimes over the Internet, ministry sources told the Hürriyet Daily News yesterday. “International implementations regarding the issue are being inspected,” the source said.
