Cher Mathieu,
thanks for providing http://prism-break.org as a collection of alternatives less subject to the suspected surveillance which has made headlines these days.
I find the list a bit naïve however.
Given that the news of concern relates to one (now actually several) governments performing actions that apparently are intrusive beyond their laws, locally and abroad, it takes far more than choosing a piece of software to avoid being subject to the intrusions, doesn't it?
To take one example, what good is Mozilla Thunderbird as an email client unless you can ensure that your server and all others involved (outside given jurisdicitons considered problematic) are not "clouding it out" to intervenable locations? Ditto for almost all of your examples.
Yours,
Alejandro Pisanty

The revelations about the National Security Agency's surveillance apparatus, if true, are a stunning abuse of our basic rights to freedom and privacy.
A coalition has formed to demand that the U.S. Congress reveal the full extent of the NSA's domestic spying programs. I'm personally joining the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Mozilla, Free Press, Fight for the Future, Access and many more consumer activist groups as part of that coalition.
I believe that the Internet Society should sign their petition as well.
