[Chapter-delegates] Finalizing the agenda for the "ISOC members @ ICANN" meeting in Durban on Sunday, 14 July 2013, from 19.00 – 21.00

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to help us finalise the agenda of the upcoming "ISOC members @ ICANN meeting" in Durban on Sunday, 14 July 2013, 19:00-21:00 local time<http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=%22ISOC+members+@+ICANN%22+meeting&iso=20130714T19&p1=1487&ah=2> (17:00-19:00 UTC).

To do so, we have prepared a very short (6 questions) survey, where you can vote on a set of proposed policy topics as well as suggest any additional Internet Society related topic that you would like to discuss at this meeting.

Please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/isoc_at_icann_durban to vote and suggest additional topics.
We would appreciate your responses by 8 July 2013.

The agenda of the meeting will roughly be structured as follows:

18h45 - 19h15   Welcome reception
19h15 - 19h25   Welcome and setting of agenda
19h25 - 19h35   Round of introductions
19h35 - 20h15   Introduction and discussion of 2 chosen policy topics, moderated by Markus Kummer, Vice-President for Public Policy, Internet Society
20h15 - 20h35   Introduction and discussion on AXIS project - moderated by Dawit Bekele, Regional Bureau Director for Africa, Internet Society (see http://www.internetsociety.org/events/workshops/axis-project-and-axis-workshops for more information on the AXIS project)
20h35 - 20h55   Introduction and discussion on the additional topic chosen by the participants via the survey (see above)
20h55 - 21h00   Conclusions & closing

The exact venue at the International Convention Centre Durban, as well as details for remote participation via WebEx and live streaming will be made available on this list as we move closer to the meeting.

As you know, the Internet Society (ISOC) usually organises two meetings for chapters and members alongside ICANN: the "ISOC @ ICANN Meeting" on Sunday mostly focused on policy issues and the "Chapters and Members Meeting" on Tuesday to discuss ISOC and Chapter related topics.

We have heard from many of you that two ISOC meetings at ICANN with mostly the same people attending both meetings was too much, especially considering the very full ICANN agenda.

Having said that, it is really important for ISOC to provide a platform where ISOC members can meet, exchange ideas and discuss ISOC related issues.

Therefore we have decided to organise one meeting only in Durban and to slightly rearrange the focus and the agenda.

We will thus be hosting an "ISOC members @ ICANN" meeting on Sunday evening, 14 July 2013, from 19.00 – 21.00 (local time), with partly policy content and partly ISOC related issues. We will provide more details and the full agenda in the next coming days.
