To all Chapter Leaders,

As most of you know, we have been searching for a new Director of Chapter Development and Support for some time.  Our Staff, though diminished, has continued to work hard on behalf of chapters and chapter members.  Nevertheless, tactical and strategic planning, leading the tools development and moving chapter issues to the forefront of Internet Society business, has fallen to me, with progressive but incomplete results.  

I am very pleased to announce the we have selected a new Director of Chapter Development and Support.  Her name is Joyce Dogniez.  She is Belgian, lives in Luxembourg and speaks five languages.  For the last 8 years Joyce has worked for Meeting Planners International successively as the Manager for European Chapters, Director of Operations for EMEA, Global Director of Training and Director of Development. She is an ardent believer in the value of Chapters and has deep knowledge of individual chapter challenges regarding funding, administration, project management and communication.  I am very enthusiastic regarding Joyce's ability to listen, her instinctive win-win approach to problem resolution and her superior communication skills.  It is my hope in the coming weeks and months that you come to know Joyce as a true supporter of chapter endeavors and their unique ability to contribute to the success of the mission of the Internet Society.

Joyce will be on a steep learning curve throughout much of 2013, particularly with respect to the specific individual chapter circumstances and needs.  I hope and trust, therefore that each of you will assist her in that challenge so that she can assist all of you collectively and individually with your chapter needs in the near future.  

Let me extend a personal thanks to Christine Saegesser who stepped in as Team Leader in Anne Lord's absence and will continue to play a strong role in Chapter Development.  Thanks also to everyone from the Chapters who participated in this process, either as candidate or consultant.  And please welcome Joyce personally when you have the opportunity.
