Dear all,

The UN General Assembly proclaimed 10 December as Human Rights Day in 1950, a landmark date bringing attention to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the common human right standard for all peoples and all nations.

A first celebration took place in Geneva on December 5th 2013, where Sir Tim Berners-Lee made a call in favour of a Web grounded in fundamental rights, what he called a "World Wide Human RIghts Web". In light of the increasing influence of the Internet on citizens' fundamental rights across the globe, this Day also offers an opportunity to take a step back and look at the impact of the network on our lives.

The Internet Society has prepared a dedicated webpage with an infographic offering a perspective on the growth and influence of the Internet on our societies. Beyond the data itself, the objective is to engage with our broader community and generate dialogue throughout ISOC's social media channels, in particular on our Facebook page<https://www.facebook.com/InternetSociety> and on Twitter<https://twitter.com/internetsociety>.

This visual and other material are available on this page: http://www.internetsociety.org/humanrights

We invite you to engage on these channels, and we would love to hear if you have any specific initiatives in the pipeline for Human Rights Day celebrations.

Thanks for spreading the word!

Best regards,
Nicolas
