Dear colleagues,

I wanted to make you aware of two WCIT-related events that are coming up in the Asia-Pacific region.

First, on September 18, ISOC and the Infocomm Technology Association of the Philippines (ITAP) are hosting an event in Manila that will bring together government representatives, industry, civil society and experts from across the Philippines to engage in a discussion about the ITRs and the potential impact of revisions to the treaty on the Philippine economy. The event will be held at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) on 18 September and registration begins at 3:00pm.

Second, on October 4-5, ISOC is helping co-organize with FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), a multistakeholder event on Broadband and the Internet in New Delhi. This event will bring together senior members of the Indian government, industry, civil society and the Internet community to discuss the future of the Indian Internet economy, broadband development, regulation and cybersecurity, among other Internet governance themes. Also included is a session dedicated to the ITRs. FICCI is currently working on an event website, and we will link this from the ISOC website when available. We are excited to support this initiative which for the first time discusses a range of Internet Governance issues at the national level in India along the the themes of a national IGF type structure.

Both the Philippines and India have large IT and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) industries and we are happy to be able to facilitate discussions that will include these industry representatives along with other stakeholders.

We look forward to reporting back on the relevant outputs from both events.
