Dear colleagues,

In recent months, there has been a great deal of discussion in Internet policy circles about whether the Internet and the Internet model is sustainable in light of increasing demand from users for high-bandwidth video content and new services such as machine-to-machine applications. Some have claimed that the Internet is facing "collapse" and that there is insufficient investment and innovation to support the Internet model going forward.

Today, I am pleased to announce the release of an Internet Society commissioned report by Analysis Mason that shows how, in the past, Internet challenges have been continually met in developed countries, based on a combination of new technology and investment to increase capacity, and changing business models to distribute content. Further, the report shows how investment and innovation are already addressing new demands in developing countries today.

Michael Kende and Markus Kummer also have a blog about the issue, focusing on the WCIT context that may be found here: http://www.isoc-public-policy-blog.org/?p=200
