Dear Colleagues
I would like to share that the ISOC Sierra Leone Chapter did its own small
part to improve the awareness of the World IPV6 Launch with the country. We
published an article culled from extracts of texts from other World IPV6
initiatives along with extracts of Leslie's statistic on worldwide
participation.
In 2011, we had with the support of AfriNIC introduced and trained on a a
lot of the Network Operator staff on BGP and IPV6. however, no networks
within Sierra Leone is using IPV6 as far as we know.
We still have not crossed that bridge yet but with the completion of the
underwater fiberoptic cable in September 2012, we expect major network
changes and expansion within Sierra Leone.
At our monthly meeting yesterday, executive member, Daniel Chaytor,
presented a synopsis of the World IPV6 Launch activities and used it to
remind IT managers and Network operators, that we still have an unmet
challenge. We decided to publish the culled extracts from ISOC articles in
three newspapers to commemorate the day and be part of it in some small
ways. Sincerely, we cannot call it an event, or on
world-ipv6-launch-chapter-events.
However, we hope Sierra Leone would have an even stronger connection to the
world once the underwater fiber optic ACE cable is commissioned.
Happy World IPV6 Launch

On behalf of Executive and Members of
ISOC Sierra Leone (ISOC.SL) Chapter.
