Juniper Networks Renews Commitment to Internet Society 

Organizations share interest in the continued evolution of the Internet as an open, global platform for innovation, creativity, and economic opportunity 

[Washington, D.C. and Geneva, Switzerland – 31 July 2012] – The Internet Society today announced that Juniper Networks has renewed its commitment as a Platinum Member to support the essential work of the Internet Society, a cause-driven organization that promotes the open development, evolution, and use of the Internet for the benefit of all people throughout the world. 

The Internet Society has more than 55,000 individual members, 90 Chapters worldwide, and more than 130 Organization members.  Juniper Networks has been an Organization member since 2008 and in 2011 increased its level of support to a Platinum contributor. Through its close relationship with the Internet Society, Juniper Networks supports critical programs and initiatives to ensure the Internet stays open and transparent; gains access to timely information on Internet policy, technical, and development issues impacting the global Internet; and helps to expand education activities and capacity building in developing countries to make a difference in the lives of people around the world.  

“Technical innovation has been a significant key to the success of the Internet,” said Tom Walsh, Head of Standards for Juniper Networks. “As we continue our collaboration with the Internet Society, we will focus our combined efforts on developing standards, technologies, and business practices that maintain an open, accessible platform and encourage innovation.” 

The Internet Society is the organizational home of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the premier standards-setting body of the Internet. Juniper Networks will also co-host the first Bits-N-Bites networking event during the IETF 84 meeting this week in Vancouver, Canada. Nearly 1,200 engineers, computer scientists, and academicians at the forefront of developing Internet standards will be in attendance at IETF 84.
