Excellent experience and ideas, Alex. I would love to coordinate, perhaps
with the assistance of Sebastian or Christian, a meeting with those Chapters
who have had Campus Party experience and use that knowledge to build a
strong and progressive partnership. If you will be at the IETF meeting and
have some time, I would love to brainstorm with yourself and other chapter
delegates how to best build this partnership in all our interests.
All the best,
Ted

Party in Berlin August 21-26
Ted,
thanks for the news of increasing cooperation with Campus Party.
I've taken part of the latest two Campus Party events in Mexico City and am
aware of the ones in Ecuador and Brazil through contact with Paco Ragageles,
who spearheads the organization. Their effect on young people is invaluable,
and they provide a great opportunity for networking and for the presentation
of ideas. The events are a bit raucuous at times but even that is part of
its assets.
That doesn't mean that ISOC just give in to Campus Party - there is plenty
to manage in that relationship. I am glad that you and Hans-Peter Dittler
are on top of it. The precedents that you create will sure be useful to all.
Glad to be of assistance if possible - my relationship with Paco is good.
Also it would be good if we can assess the experience to date together with
other chapters that have been involved, esp. Brazil, Ecuador, and some of
the ones in Spain.
Yours,
Alejandro Pisanty

Asunto: Re: [Chapter-delegates] Invitation to Participate at the Campus
Party in Berlin August 21-26
Ted,
This is an effective way for Chapters to connect Students in their countries
to the Campus Party, perhaps encourage the local students to organize local
events in their own countries and also expand their membership base with
students.
What is the nature of proposed arrangement with the Campus Party? Are they
receptive to discuss the Event Agenda with ISOC and perhaps include topics
related to Internet Governance / Youth Participation in Internet Governance?
If the relationship is forged to be so strong, then it would indeed be
worthwhile for Chapters to organize participation of Chapter Leaders as also
encourage / offer funding / incentives to a few students to participate.
However, Event Registration fee waiver alone does not help.

Among the many on-going projects and partnerships to have emerged from the
Global INET is a growing relationship between the Internet Society and
Campus Party. Some of you have been members of the Campus Party in your
university days. Founded over 16 years ago, Campus Party is organized for
the purpose of harnessing the energy of university youth to advance
technology for social good. More about Campus Party can be found at
http://www.campus-party.org/What_is_it.html
The Internet Society and the Campus Party are exploring ways to work
together around the globe to bring vitality to ISOC membership and bring
direction for the future to their members, known as Campuseros. This
positive and responsible-thinking global group wants to partner with ISOC
and in particular ISOC Chapters in order to be involved in the key issues
affecting the Internet. We are reviewing a Statement of Shared Principles
document which we intend to sign in the near future and will encourage
Campuseros to join the Internet Society and to join a local chapter.
Finally, this year's main Campus Party will be held in Berlin, August 21 -
26 and Campus Party has invited every ISOC Chapter to come and participate.
One of our ISOC Chapter leaders and a former Campusero himself, Hans Peter
Dittler will be speaking at one of the sessions and other ISOC participants
will be joining discussion panels. We hope that all of you can take
advantage of this incredible congregation of young technology explorers,
their enthusiasm and their desire to make a progressive difference in
society. Campus Party leaders have told us they want to encourage all the
Campuseros to join ISOC chapters where they can. What a great infusion of
new blood this could be for all of us. Please, if you can, join The
Internet Society Staff and Campus Party in Berlin!
Campus party has agreed to make 40 free registrations available for Chapter
members who will attend this event. No travel fellowships are available
currently. Nevertheless, this opportunity for outreach and participation is
extraordinary and I encourage all to take every advantage we can of this new
relationship and especially of this upcoming technology festival!.
There will be a second email within two weeks with additional details of
planned events and participation from various groups. It would be our great
pleasure to see 30 or 40 or more chapters represented at Campus Party.
There is much we will do together imagining the Future Internet.
Best regards,
