Dear Joly

You are right. Experience has its say :). I deactivated the nice to have modules: courseware and embedly which was breaking the frontend text editors. (no more Ted videos and slideshare embedding :(( )

Some go further and deactivate the members' activity stream as it overlaps with the forum and may prove confusing to the users as to where to post their discussions. See the approach taken recently by the buddypress team on their official site.
