Yesterday the NYC SOPA/PIPA protest rally drew between 2-2,500 people. 
Previous protests about tech-related issues in the city have been lucky 
to get 40-50. Clearly this is a sea-change - one that wouldn't have 
happened before the Arab Spring, Occupy Wall Street, etc.

After the NY INET last year I was chatting with Lynn St. Amour and said 
that we should try to cast enemies of the open Internet as tormenters of 
cute kittens.

This was accomplished yesterday when http://icanhascheezburger.com/ went 
black to protest SOPA and PIPA.
