Hi All,
I want to thank all of you for your very candid and insightful comments
regarding the reuse of Internet Society materials. As Greg Wood pointed out
yesterday in his email, we absolutely want to encourage that reuse, as it
only broadens our messaging through our robust Chapter organization. As a
result, we are currently exploring Creative Commons licensing to explicitly
permit this for content published to our website as well as our printed
collateral. Our first priority is to start with our website content and move
quickly to our printed materials and collateral.
We also intend to continue to ask for your suggestions and feedback.and
yesterday Alejandro Pisanty made a wonderful suggestion that we will also
pursue "A very specific, concrete suggestion is to review the latest 5 ISOC
public white papers and ask what would be the maximum relaxation of
copyright, within the Creative Commons framework, that is acceptable for
ISOC. A first analysis by ISOC could probably be done in a couple weeks and
we'd love to have a discussion in the chapters list once the proposal is
ready. Make it all drafts and permanent-beta, the Internet way". Thank you
Alejandro for this great idea!!
This is a very important communications tool for all of us.please stay tuned
as you will see more on this subject in the next few weeks. Again, we
appreciate all the passionate comments and suggestions.
Look forward to seeing a lot of you in Geneva in April!
Best regards,
Scott
