Dear Colleagues,

The following application for a Chapter in Kazakhstan has been received. It is being sent to this list for peer comment and review.
Please note that the Chapter is not yet formed and has not officially been recognised by ISOC.
If there are people on this list that know the individuals proposing to establish the Chapter, feedback is especially welcome.
The period allowed for comments is two weeks and the deadline is December 20, 2012.

Chapter Application

A. Proposed Name of the Chapter
Internet Society Kazakhstan Chapter
 
B. Community of Interest the Chapter Will Serve
Kazakhstan Internet Society will serve the interests of the Internet community of Kazakhstan.
 
C. Purpose and Scope of the Chapter
The proposed NGO will be built as newly established non-profit, non-government organization in Kazakhstan.
The goal is to promote development and use of Internet within Kazakhstan.
Our initial goal to establish with assistance and support of Kazakhstan members of the ISOC, an Kazakhstan Chapter of the Internet Society.
 
D. Outline of key priorities for the first year of Chapter
What we are planning to do:
1. Promotes professional development and builds community to foster participation and leadership in areas important to the evolution of the Internet.
2. Provides forums for discussion of issues that affect Internet evolution, development and use in technical, commercial, societal, and other contexts.
3. Cooperates with the Kazakhstan state to be involved with and guide the existing and future Internet legislation change. Participates in development e-government in Kazakhstan.
4. Contribute to reducing the digital gender inequality in Kazakhstan by promoting special gender focused educational programs.
5. Participation in the creation of Kazakhstan and international standards, protocols, administration, and the technical infrastructure of the Internet.

G. Membership
ISOC Kazakhstan plans to involve to its activity all people and organizations interested in development of Internet in Kazakhstan. It is going to use for that purpose all ways of communication including face-to-face meetings, online services such as videoconferences, Skype sessions, etc. Taking into account that majority of founding members of ISOC Kazakhstan are young people we believe that we will attract steady stream of new members and volunteers serves a Chapter with a regular pool of energy and talent as well as new leadership.

I.  Additional Information
In addition to our supporters, numerous private individuals are interested in founding ISOC Chapter in Kazakhstan, among whom are IT professionals and managers in both the private and public sectors, sociologists, marketing specialists and lawyers, who have become a global members of ISOC.
