Joly,
thanks not only for providing this video but to ISOC NY and yourself for
setting up the meeting with Paul Brigner. It is cool to see in your
high-quality recording how you and the brilliant colleagues in your
chapter went about this.
I'm still left with the itch - Paul must have been applying for the ISOC
job at the time of the SOPA etc. hearings, as someone else has pointed
out. At some point he was calling you and David Solomonoff - and me and
several thousand other ISOC members - providers of exaggeration, at least,
and either dumb or manipulated or liars, with the straightest face ever.
Let's hope that deeds speak. Do count on ISOC Mexico for the inter-chapter
interactions you mention in the meeting, and to continue to provide him
with pleasant surprises and discoveries, as you did in the meeting.
ISOC staff reading this: please note that at this point the chapters have
been providing both Ted Mooney and now Paul Brigner with what for us are
vital parts of what should be a new-employee briefing - at a direct or
second level report to the CIO level!!! - on things that staff does for
chapters: the Sphere and other interaction tools, in Ted's case, and the
360 and other stuff for Paul, all on record. And there is still
outstanding the issue of Wikipedia which should be part of Social Media
101 for ISOC HQ.
Also note that though a discussion may be led by 1-5 participants at any
given time, the rest is not only lurking, we are most of the time feeling
well represented by those on whom it falls to bear the flag.
We are happy to contribute.
