Dear all,

Fyi, please find attached the final G8 Declaration which is also available
here:
http://www.g20-g8.com/g8-g20/g8/english/live/news/renewed-commitment-for-fre
edom-and-democracy.1314.html

There are various paragraphs addressing specific issues such as Intellectual
Property Rights which we will look into carefully in the perspective of
preparations for the "G8+" and "G20" meetings next autumn.

In the meantime, it is interesting to note that the text (see section on the
Internet, page 4 to 7):

- Supports "the multi-stakeholder model of Internet governance, we
call upon all stakeholders to contribute to enhanced cooperation within and
between all international fora dealing with the governance of the Internet.
In this regard, flexibility and transparency have to be maintained in order
to adapt to the fast pace of technological and business developments and
uses. Governments have a key role to play in this model."

- Welcomes the eG8 Forum held on the eve of the G8 summit: we should
expect the Forum to be renewed next year, in the US, and also to adopt a
more open approach (including speakers from our community and the civil
society).

- Includes a mention to the upcoming IGF and OECD High-Level Meeting:
given the openness of these forums, this is very positive.

Best,

Constance
