The deadline to put in our votes in the ISOC Board of Trustees election is
6pm EDT on Friday.
As you can see below there are 3 'chapter' candidates for us to choose from.
They are all strong candidates.
Alain is an experienced engineer, a member of SSAC, and brings missing
African representation to the board, important as the Internet grows in the
region.
Nick has a proven record, through his earlier work as director of At-Large
with ICANN, of working with the bottom-up process. He was also responsible
for remote participation in meetings. Based in Geneva, he's now working for
Google on copyright issues - including the setting up of an international
music rights registry - and I am already talking to him about interacting
with ISOC-NY on that front - we have a keen interest in Intellectual
Property matters.. He's on facebook.
Marcin has long been active in Chapter affairs, and ISOC-PL is an exemplar
of how a Chapter can interact with local government. He's a veteran of ISOC
affairs.
If one looks at the candidate forum http://isoc.org/wp/elections11/ Nick
has the strongest responses yet he has nothing to offer on the crucial Q9.
Chapters and organizational members

He has taken the trouble to provide a separate
manifesto<http://ashtonhart.typepad.com/blog/2011/04/nomination-for-election-as-a-trustee-of-the-internet-society.html>on
his blog. I like his response on Q4
Education <http://isoc.org/wp/elections11/?p=20#comments>, that more work
has to be done in educating policymakers.
Marcin does have an answer on Q9, even if not too concrete but, at the same
time, has not gotten it together to post a bio (he has offered his linked in
profile elsewhere http://www.linkedin.com/in/marcincieslak ) He is strong
is in his call for extending ISOC's work on promoting open standards
in Q7<http://isoc.org/wp/elections11/?p=26#comments> and
talks about infrastucture in Q8<http://isoc.org/wp/elections11/?p=28#comments>
Alain has posted a bio but not posed a single answer. Googling brings up his
linked in profile http://www.linkedin.com/pub/alain-aina/6/26/106
Any comments?
