Dear Chapter Officers,
The Internet Society's Regional Bureaus are at the core of our region-
specific activities, covering functional areas such as policy,
technology, capacity building, and membership and business
development. They interconnect Internet Society staff, chapters,
partners, organizational and individual members on regional issues and
programs, enabling these groups to collaborate for the benefit and
health of the global Internet.
We are pleased to announce the next steps for the Internet Society in
reinforcing the importance and effectiveness of the Regional Bureaus:
* Middle East region has been added to the portfolio of the African
Bureau;
* The Regional Bureau leaders have been aligned with the level of
their new responsibilities and are now all Directors;
* A number of senior staff have been transferred to the Bureaus to
support key areas of priority. They include:
* Michuki Mwangi as Senior Development Manager for Africa and the
Middle East Bureau;
* Christian O’Flaherty as Senior Development Manager for Latin
America and Caribbean Bureau;
* Staff in other functional areas will provide enhanced support to the
Bureau Directors as they seek to maximize the work of the Internet
Society in the regions.
NEXT STEPS in 2011
ISOC will further strengthen on-the-ground support for Africa and
Middle East and Asia. To that end, we have recently circulated a
posting for a "Manager, Regional Affairs" in Asia (see: http://www.isoc.org/isoc/general/career/asia-manager.shtml)
. Please forward this link to any interested persons or groups as
appropriate.
For more information about the Regional Bureaus, please visit the
Internet Society website at: http://www.isoc.org/regions/.
We look forward to working ever more closely in partnership with you
in 2011 and beyond.
Walda Roseman.
