[Chapter-delegates] [Action Needed] Your Chapter’s voting delegate for the upcoming Board of Trustees election

Dear Colleagues,

As announced below, the Nominations Committee has concluded its deliberations and approved a slate for the 2011 elections for the Internet Society Board of Trustees.  

Each Internet Society Chapter has one (1) voice in the upcoming elections through their official Voting Delegate (or Alternative Voting Delegate). The Voting Delegate (or Alternative Voting Delegate) is an officer role in the Chapter Portal (AMS).

The final list of all Chapter Voting Delegates will be drawn from the Chapter Portal (AMS) on the 8 April 2011.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NOW: Please contact the AMS Administrator for your Chapter to ensure that your Chapter’s list of officers is up to date in the Chapter Portal (AMS) at https://portal.isoc.org.

IMPORTANT: If there is no Voting Delegate (or Alternative Voting Delegate) listed before 8 April 2011 in the Chapter portal, your Chapter will not be able to make use of its voting rights in the 2011 Board of Trustees election. 

Ballots will be sent electronically to the designated Voting Delegate or Alternative Voting Delegate of each eligible Organizational Member and Chapter no later than 29 April 2011 and votes should be cast no later than 27 May 2011.

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to report that the Nominations Committee has concluded its deliberations and approved a slate for the 2011 elections for the Internet Society Board of Trustees. The Committee recommends the following eight (8) nominees:

Chapter Trustee positions (one position to be filled this year):

. Alain Aina - Benin

. Nick Ashton-Hart - Switzerland

. Marcin Cieslak - Poland

Organizational Member Trustee positions (two positions to be filled this year):

. Raúl Echeberria - Uruguay

. Yrjö Länsipuro - Finland

. Jason Livingood - USA

. Bill Smith - USA

. Theresa Swinehart - USA

This concludes the work of the Nominations Committee. I would like to thank all the potential candidates who expressed an interest and willingness to serve on the board of trustees. The Committee was very encouraged by the strong response from many qualified candidates and narrowing down the field to the final slate was an extremely challenging task. We are confident that the nominees selected possess the qualifications outlined in the call for nominations and will represent the Internet Society effectively.

My gratitude goes out to my colleagues on the Nominations Committee for all their time and hard work.
