Dear colleagues,

It is my pleasure to inform that the isoc.lu
domain has been signed with DNSSEC yesterday. We had already been using
ISC's DLV for over two years. Now that the ".lu" zone itself is signed,
isoc.lu has become the first domain to be signed in the ccTLD zone.

Although we may not be the first chapter to use DNSSEC - and I note
isoc.org has been signed several months ago - we wanted to give a
particular notice to this event. The country's economy is very much
driven by the financial services sector, where trust is the key to
business. Using our own domain as a showcase, we can easily demonstrate
that DNSSEC is can be done today, even on volunteer time, and that it
has no adverse effects. We intend to raise awareness about DNSSEC
towards the local business actors in the near future.

The press
release in French is at:

The
Luxembourg chapter of the Internet Society announced today that it has
deployed DNSSEC, a set of extensions to the Domain Name System (DNS),
which provides a level of insurance for its ISOC.lu domain. The
announcement builds on an earlier's announcement by the RESTENA
Foundation, the Registry of the .LU domain, that they have implemented
DNSSEC for the entire .LU top-level domain.

« We are pleased to be the
first in the .LU domain to deploy DNSSEC, because it provides an
important element to increase user confidence in the Internet », said
Brent Frère, Chairman of the Luxembourg chapter. « Deploying DNSSEC for
the .LU domain. is an important step to ensure the global Internet
community a trusted channel for communication, and we applaud the
efforts of the RESTENA Foundation in this area. »

Best
regards,

Patrick Vande Walle
