ISOC Armenia Chapter activity in June 2011

1. IPv6 day in Armenia
A round table on IPv6 deployment was organized on June 8, 2011 by ISOC AM
Chapter and Academic Network (ASNET-AM) of the National Academy of Sciences
(NAS). 
The meeting was representative and included participants from academy,
research, education, ISPs, Ministry of Transport and Communication, AM
Registry, AMNIC, ArmIX, telecom operators, communication channel providers.
The round table was led by ISOC AM vice chair Grigory Saghyan, who made the
starting presentation and presented the vision of ISOC AM on Ipv6 deployment
in Armenia in the near future.
A representative of the ASNET AM (a grantee of the ISOC Community Grant
Programme) reported on their plans to upgrade academic (research) network to
IPv6 readiness.
Participants agreed to cooperate and exchange their experience. A working
group was formed that will develop a plan of meetings and agenda.

2. A general meeting of ARMIX Foundation (a grantee of the ISOC Community
Grant Programme) took place with the following agenda:
a. Report on 2010-2011 activities
b. ARMIX development plans for 2011
c. Elections of ARMIX Council and Head of ARMIX Council

3. Vice-chair of ISOC AM made a presentation on the BarCamp conference
(www.barcamp.am) in Yerevan explaining the goals and activity of ISOC AM and
invited participants to join ISOC AM. 

4. ISOC AM membership reached 120.

Dear Colleagues,

This is just a friendly reminder to send us items of interest that you would
like to see included in the June edition of the Internet Society newsletter
and thus shared with other Internet Society Chapters and Members.

As pointed out by Sabrina Wilmot earlier this month, it would be
particularly interesting if you could share short articles about your
Chapter's activities in relation to IPv6 and the World IPv6 Day that took
place on 8 June 2011. 

We look forward to receiving a short overview (and links) of as many
Chapters as possible on this topic for the newsletter!  (But other updates
are of course also more than welcome.)

Please submit your articles to <chapter-support[at]isoc.org> by 24 June
2011.
