[Chapter-delegates] Invitation to INET BUCHAREST, RO (9 November 2011) and to the European Chapters Workshop (10 November 2011)

We warmly invite you to join us to the Bucharest INET conference on 9 November 2011 and to the European Chapters workshop on 10 November 2011. 

1. INET (Bucharest, 9 November 2011)
Under the theme “Access, Trust and Freedom: coordinates for the future Internet”  high–profile speakers will debate the challenges, opportunities and threats facing the Internet. There will be, among others: 
·                Valerian Vreme, Minister of Communications and Information Society, Romania,
·                Deepak Bhatia, Regional ICT Sector Coordinator for Europe and Central Asia, World Bank,
·                Eugene Kaspersky, CEO, Kaspersky lab (tbc) and
·                Sami Ben Gharbia, Director of Global Voices Advocacy and Tunisian free speech advocate and blogger

The Internet is the primary cornerstone for business and communication today. But the decisions we make in the coming months and years will determine whether it remains a global platform for innovation and expression for people everywhere. In order to continue being a trusted, mission-critical platform, the Internet must be seen and proven to be secure, reliable and private. This conference will consider Internet access in Romania (from a national and international perspective), Trust and Privacy, freedom of speech and the future of the Internet. As well as keynote presentations, we will be having three panel discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing Romanian Policymakers, business and citizens.

This conference is set to create a stimulus for learning, collaborating and defining strategies that shape the future of the Internet. It is a unique forum to meet, discuss and learn from the people driving the development of the Internet.


2. European Chapters Workshop (Bucharest, 10 November 2011):

We are also willing to extend this INET with a one-day meeting dedicated to Chapters activities in Europe. 

Further details on the venue (Intercontinental Hotel, Bucharest), support (including on Visa requirements) as well as the agenda for our Chapters meeting will be shared with you in the next coming days.
As for previous INETs, a fellowship programme will be organised for Chapters.

We look forward to seeing you all in Bucharest in November as this will be another great opportunity to further advance ISOC mission and principles in Europe.
