Speaking personally, I am utterly appalled by the events taking place
in Libya. The news reports coming in constantly here are extremely
distressing. I condemn outright the actions reported: that the Libyan
army is openly bombing its citizenry, shooting peaceful protesters,
and probably other even more appalling violations of human rights.

I apologise if my post appeared dispassionate, or without compassion.
I assure you I am extremely distressed by the reports of human rights
violations and the direct harm being committed on the people of Libya.

My expertise is as a telecoms and Internet engineer. This is an
Internet Society forum. The only way I can directly help, right now,
is to publicise the facts about the specifics on disruptions to a
vital medium giving voice to an oppressed people. To do so I seek the
facts.

The Internet has proved to be a crucial aspect of reporting and
monitoring the events in Libya, and giving a voice to its people.These
things are vital. I seek to understand, and then publicise what is
happening to Internet infrastructure in Libya in order to empower
those seeking to resist its repression.

I share your clearly apparent distress.

I repeat my call for further information on the specifics of events in Libya.


My heart goes out to the people of Libya and others suffering around the world,
