In the Students Free for Free Culture Conf that I streamed today
naturally these topics came up, especially during Susan Crawford &
diaspora segments. I will post vid later, although some can be seen
via the chapters livestream channel.

On the Kill Switch Susan's response was that the President already has
wide ranging emergency powers, and the proposed legislation, if not
moot, is a red herring.
The students showed a growing awareness of, a good deal of enthusiasm
for, and reported some progress on, mesh networking. They wondered
whether diaspora , or the new freedom box initiative, could provide a
working framework for same..Obviously this might still be cut off from
the outside world, but it would at least be independent of central
switches - now becoming plainly desirable.
