hi Everyone,

You may recall that at the beginning of the year we had a "Membership
Challenge" to chapters to help us recruit new members to the Internet
Society. While there were individual prizes for the members who
recruited the most number of new members, we also had a chapter
challenge for the Chapter that had the largest increase in the number
of members as a result of the combined recruitment efforts of the
members of the Chapter.

The Chapter that won was the New York Chapter. To celebrate their
success, the New York Chapter has a story and video profiled on the
new Internet Society home page of one of their projects "Breaking
Barriers". If you have not yet had a look at the video and the story,
we would encourage you to do so. It is a fabulous video and a great
example of some amazing work being done locally by a Chapter. The
video and story work was done in close collaboration with the New York
Chapter and wouldn't have been such a great piece of work if it wasn't
for them (thank you!).

REQUEST:

This work is also great example of our new approach to storytelling.
We would love to work with Chapters around the world to develop text,
audio, or video stories to serve as flagship examples for depth of the
Internet Society's work around the world. So:

* If you have programmes or projects you think would make a good
story, please get in touch with Lia Kiessling <kiessling at isoc.org> and
copy your Regional Bureau Director.
* If you have event you'd like to promote, please get in touch with
Lia at least 2-3 months BEFORE the event so we can brainstorm a
storyline and approach.
* And of course, don't forget if you would like your event webcast,
please send an email to <webcast at isoc.org>

There is some great work happening among the Chapters and we look
forward to hearing your ideas for stories and video pieces and to
creating more feature pieces.

Best wishes,

Anne and Lia.
