Dear Victor,
It is good to hear from you and that you found the documents useful.
I'm delighted that you would like to organise a workshop about
disability awareness in Cameroon. That is very good news! It will
probably take a while to organise such a workshop. Please let me know
your progress.
There is much software available to assist people with disabilities to
use the Internet. Some of it is expensive so it is important to evaluate
what is suitable and maybe already being used in Cameroon.
Examples of screen reading software for blind people are listed at:
http://www.visionaustralia.org.au/info.aspx?page=1231
Screen reading software outputs each line of text on a screen usually to
a speech synthesiser so that a blind person can hear what is on the
screen and how it is formatted.
With multimedia, it is important that captioning is available for people
with hearing impairment.
Web developers need to use the W3C international web content
accessibility guidelines so that people with vision impairment, hearing
impairment and physical disabilities, for example, can use web sites.
Further information about this is at:
http://www.w3.org/WAI/gettingstarted/Overview.html
Cameroon has signed the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities and this includes an Article that the government must
provide access to information and communications technologies to people
with disabilities at an affordable cost.

Your workshop could highlight some of these issues. Involving and
including representatives from disability organisations helps to bring
home the issues directly.
This is only a small starting point - there is much other information
and resources that will be useful for you.
I totally agree - The Internet is for Everyone - including people with
disabilities!
I wish you much success in your work!
Regards,
Gunela
