Hello,
.
Please accept this invitation to you as Chapter-Delegates to participate in
the IGF Dynamic Coalition on Core Internet Values and reply to indicate your
interest in taking part by sending a mail to me at isolatednet at gmail.com or
to Alejandro Pisanty, who has consented to be the Chair of this Coalition.

The Internet is evolving further while being faced with increasing
challenges in the form of assertive legislation by national and regional
Governments, direct and indirect pressures on Business to deviate from
traditional Internet values and challenges to Civil Society by moves to
deviate from the multi stakeholder approach. All this is happening as the
IGF transitions from its initial phase of first five years to a new phase
which is still being defined.

In this context it becomes all the more important to work on the task of
preserving the Core Internet Values. Following the workshop on this theme at
IGF Egypt, we have formed the Dynamic Coalition and had the first meeting at
IGF Vilnius. Some work has been done so far and it is now time to do a lot
more.

Please set aside a bit of your time to take part in this Coalition which
could take shape as a productive and significantly valuable exercise to
discuss and define the Core Values that must be preserved. Your contribution
could be as little as a few hours in total but please do take part to the
extent that your schedule allows you and be kind enough to reply to this
message, or to me, or the Chair Alejandro Pisanty to confirm your
participation

   1. A blog has been set up with initial content on the domain
coreinternetvalues.org Please feel free to suggest / add content to this
   blog.
   2. A facebook group has been set up at the URL
   http://www.facebook.com/home.php?k=group_161525920538727&ap=1 as a closed
group now, coalition members to be included one after another. This group is
to be opened up for sharing the progress of work with a wider audience.
   3. An email list is soon to be set up at http://coreinternetvalues.org/ or
at any other list server that you might suggest, with moderators to be
named. As all the participants of this coalition are serious community
participants of a certain stature, the list is expected to be free of
   trivia.
   4. We could decide on a conference platform - adobe or WebEx or any
other, possibly make a request to ISOC or ICANN for bandwidth and staff
   support.
   5. We may have about 20 or more participants initially in this Dynamic
Coalition, but we could explore the possibility of expanding the number of
   participants by reference from within.
   6. The meeting at IGF would be in the format of a "meeting" (as opposed
to a panel discussion) but we may propose discussion leaders for the IGF
   meeting of this Coalition.
   7. All these are initial ideas, open to changes and improvements that you
   may suggest.

This dynamic coalition would do more work by email, by teleconferencing and
by blogging and social networking. We will prepare to have our Second
Dynamic Coalition meeting at the IGF during Sep 27-30 at Nairobi, but would
also explore the possibilities of face to face meetings before the IGF
during International Events such as MAG meetings, ICANN meetings and INet
meetings where a good number of the participants of this Coalition would
gather.

Thank you
