Dear Colleagues,

The following application for a Chapter in Taichung (Taiwan) has been 
received. It is being sent to this list for peer comment and review.

Please note that the Chapter is not yet formed and has not officially 
been recognised by ISOC.

If there are people on this list that know the individuals proposing to 
establish the Chapter, feedback is especially welcome.

The period allowed for comments is two weeks and the deadline is 
September 30, 2010.

Chapter Application

Proposed name of the Chapter
Internet Society Taiwan Taichung Chapter

Community of Interest the Chapter will serve
As Taichung city is located in the center of Taiwan, Taichung Chapter 
will serve the internet community in south of Taiwan. The southern 
Taiwan is a mountainous area so that Taichung Chapter will serve the 
remote villages of this area as well.

Purpose and Scope of Chapter
1. Exchange the experience of the internet communities of 
central-southern Taiwan with the international internet communities.
2. Provide a communications platform to internet communities of 
central-southern Taiwan.
3. Promote and develop new internet applications and technologies in 
central-southern Taiwan
4. Reduce the digital divide problem
5. Develop e-education in the mountainous area and remote villages of 
southern Taiwan and to train talent in network and technology

provide the venue service for the Chapter while the Chapter holds local 
activities.
