Dear all
It has been a couple of weeks since we shared with you the launch of our Future Internet Scenarios campaign. We've since received some very positive and constructive feedback from many individuals and Chapters so wanted to give you an update on recent and planned activities.
If you have any additional suggestions for how you would like to see the content leveraged, please let us know. In the meantime, we encourage you to share the content with your own networks.
Launch and web content
We launched the Scenarios on 29th September at the London INET event where the four videos were showcased for the first time. We found that they prompted healthy debate among participants, much of which is still ongoing.
We've featured the content on a website front page "Spotlight" which directs traffic to a dedicated web page that host the content -www.isoc.org/internetfuture. The page also contains a poll which asks visitors to select what they believe to be the greatest threat to the Internet's Future. If you haven't yet voted, we encourage you do do so!
Traffic to the scenarios' page has been excellent since the launch. In fact, it's the 3rd most popular page on the site at the moment.
Social Media traction
We also promoted the scenarios via both our Facebook page (facebook.com/internetsociety) and Twitter channel @internetsociety. We've been delighted to see the many hundreds of tweets and RTs pointing people to our new content. The conversations are still ongoing, so please do join in and share the links with anyone you think might be interested. And, if you or your Chapter uses Twitter, please subscribe to our feed at http://twitter.com/internetsociety.)
Furthermore, the videos are directly available at the Internet Society YouTube channel. Several have received several thousand views to date. http://www.youtube.com/internetsocietyvideo.
Chapter use of scenarios
We received some extremely positive feedback from Chapter members in attendance at the London INET who have suggested the content could help encourage engagement with the Internet Society community.
Several of this year's remaining INET organisers plan to incorporate the content into their events. If you would like to use them for your own activities, we have background materials to share in addition to high resolution versions of the videos. (Just ask me - I'm chambers at isoc.org). For those Chapters looking for the source files - we're working on that now.
Looking forwards
As part of our ongoing campaign to promote the scenario content, we will be:
+ adding links to them from most popular pages on isoc.org captioning
+ the videos translating the captions into several languages
+ Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/internetsociety)
+ adding a "tweet this" button to the scenarios page
+ (http://isoc.org/scenarios) reaching out to bloggers and some high-traffic YouTube channels.
+ post the scenario descriptions on slideshare.net
+ exploring opportunities to leverage content for speaking opportunties
+ continuing to leverage for forthcoming INETs and associated media outreach
How else would you like to see the content leveraged?
We have a number of other activities underway, and would welcome suggestions about other channels we might pursue.
.
Thank you
Anya
