I will admit that Shiva's suggestion also gave me pause.
My first reaction is that the ISOC site is complex enough as it is
without adding gadgets all over the place.
I have in mind the maxim - "Simple is strong, clever is stupid" not to
mention "Be liberal in what you accept, but conservative in what you
put out"
I believe that the Global ISOC is best served by a website that is
elegant and optimally effective as an example of accessibility, both
by language and ability. Also, particularly given ISOC's recent
relationship with W3C, it should be an exemplar of web standards.
It is to be borne in mind that many free sofware advocates eschew even
the use of javascript!
Experimentation and development of interactive fun aspects should be
the province of the Chapters - individually and collectively - while
ISOC Global serves as a firm foundation in support of our collective
mission. I think there is a great deal of room for us to figure out
ways of cross fertilization between chapters, via shared technology
and information.
And for Marcin, I can strongly suggest a close viewing of the video of
our recent ISOC-NY event 'Freedom in The Cloud' where he'll find very
similar ideas to his own presented!
