Hello all.
The 9th round of negotiations of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) are taking place this week in Luzern, Switzerland.
The participants in those negotiations are: Australia, Canada, the European Union and its 27 member states, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States of America.
Draft agenda: https://www.ige.ch/fileadmin/user_upload/Juristische_Infos/e/acta_agenda_9th_round_lucerne_june_2010_e.pdf
As you may recall, ISOC made two submissions regarding ACTA:
(a) to the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission (http://www.isoc.org/pubpolpillar/docs/submission-ec-acta-consult-20100322.pdf)
(b) to the New Zealand Ministry of Economic Development (http://www.isoc.org/pubpolpillar/docs/submission-nz-acta-consult-20100331.pdf)
ACTA may have different implications for different countries. However, to ensure a consistent ISOC community approach to this issue, may I please ask Chapters who are planning to undertake activities in this area to coordinate with me. My email address is runnegar at isoc.org.
Further information regarding ACTA is available on our website at http://www.isoc.org/pubpolpillar/issues/acta.shtml.
Best regards,
Christine
