Dear Frank and Carlos,
Thank you for bringing the article to our attention.
Regarding the "HADOPI" law, I would like to take this opportunity to mention some of the work already undertaken by the ISOC France Chapter and the ISOC ECC in this area:
- ISOC ECC Aide Memoire dated 4 August 2008 entitled: Internet - creative content and "graduated responses"
- ISOC ECC and ISOC France press release dated 5 September 2008
I will leave ISOC France and ISOC ECC to provide further details regarding their activities.
The ISOC Copyright Working Group has also been working in this area, identifying andexamining various emerging Internet-focused policy responses around the world to online copyright infringement, including the French "HADOPI" law. Our intention is to produce a discussion paper exploring some of the potential implications of these responses with observations and suggested ways forward. We hope this work will provide a valuable contribution to the international, regional and national dialogue on these issues.
Best regards,
Christine

If there are conflicting forces within France who might fight HADOPI we should by all means encourage them.

yes indeed, and the British, the Belgium, the Spanish and a few others now (or soon)...
So should we fight or encourage?
To read the politics behind all of that, HADOPI was pushed by the Political right in France, while this initiative is pushed by the political left of France (the Foreign Affairs Minister is from the left party). Some days you win, some days you loose.

<can't help it>
Speaking about wrongly securing the Internet, the French should do a serious introspective analysis of HADOPI.

Is ISOC or its chapters are participating in this initiative?
It seems to me more rewarding to help here than to fight laws that tries to wrongly secure the Internet.
