[Chapter-delegates] New release of the AMS Chapter Portal is live

Hello everyone:

At the Brussels-based chapter meeting a few weeks ago, I had discussed  
some of the changes coming to the current AMS Chapter Portal.   I am  
happy to announce that those changes are now in place.

Many of the changes described below were direct requests from chapter  
leaders over the past six or so months, so thank you once again for  
the feedback.

Here is a summary of the changes:

1)  Changes to membership-information display.  There is now much more  
information shown to the member when he/she logs in.  Once logged in,  
the member now immediately sees:

* Membership status
* Member since:  <date>
* Expiration date of membership if the member is Sustaining-level
* Lifetime ISOC donation level

2)  Limit on number of chapters one can indicate interest in.  On the  
"join a chapter" page, we found some individuals were checking all 75+  
active chapters at the same time and clicking Submit.  Therefore we  
placed a limit of four chapters per 24-hour period.  The user now  
receives an error message if more are chosen within that timeframe.

3)  Review Applicants page now issues an email alert to the main email  
address of each chapter when an individual indicates interest in  
joining that chapter.  This was requested by several chapter officers.

4)  Review Applicants page now gives more detailed results after  
submit, such as "3/3 records approved," and also lists the names (in  
alphabetical order) of those approved or denied by a given operation.   
Also, the Continue button now brings you back to that Review  
Applicants page, instead of redirecting you to the Chapter Roster.

5)  Review Applicants page loads more quickly now, for those chapters  
with many outstanding applicants.  The page will now show only 20  
applicants at a time.  Also, if your chapter has many applicants  
waiting for approval, please contact us at amshelp at isoc.org.  We can  
provide a separate file for easier viewing if required (some chapters  
with 100+ outstanding applicants have requested this).

6)  The Add Members page now contains an End Date field.  This means  
chapter officers can select a different timeframe for membership aside  
from the default of 12 months.  Previously this had required editing  
the new member's record after he/she had been added.

7)  If an officer is the officer of only one chapter, the Chapter  
Management menu item will now take the officer directly to that  
chapter's Chapter Roster page.

8)  Ability for User to automatically retrieve Username from the  
password-reset page.  Also a slight redesign of this page so it is  
easier for users to now:

* Reset Password
* Retrieve Username (using the email address tied to the account)
* Create a new account/join ISOC

There are also now limits of three attempts for reset password and  
username retrieval within a 24-hour period.

9)  Change of the term User ID to Username.  This was requested by a  
chapter officer as he felt User ID (portal username) and Member ID  
(ISOC unique ID) were confusingly named.  We agreed and we have  
changed User ID to Username on all pages of the portal.  It will  
sometimes still exist at the URL level, however.

10)  Addition of chapter-address fields to the emails that go out to  
chapter members indicating membership approval in that chapter.

11)  Frequently-asked Question (FAQ) section on the portal, and  
ability to download user guides directly from the portal.  This  
section is accessible to everyone without logging in.

12)  More data fields are available:  Gender and Username were both  
added to the My Account section

Please review these new-release changes and let us know what your  
experience is.  While the open-source version of the chapter portal is  
still on the roadmap, we felt an update to the current portal was  
warranted based on the number of enhancement requests we had been
