While this article is in French it contains many links to interesting reports (some in English).

A good overview of the situation, and a parallel between may 68 in France ( The Hippies movement elsewhere) with its social freedom revolution and the current social freedom revolution our kids are teaching us (parents vs transparents).

Basically while our parents were not getting it in the 60s, it is now our turn to not get it!

May 68 (Wikipedia): May 1968 was a political failure for the protesters, but it had an enormous social impact. In France, it is considered to be the watershed moment when a conservative moral ideal (religion, patriotism, respect for authority) shifted towards a more liberal moral ideal (equality, sexual liberation, human rights) that today better describes French society, in theory if not in practice.

In the article there is a reference about the IGF where Kids and Internet is discussed by 50+ year old "farts", who never spoke to a kid and its conception of the Internet.
