Yes it all fine and dandy being at arms length now but give it another 10
years. Taking lessons from history We all saw how the railroad industry in
the US which were built and run by private enterprises but the government
had to step in with regulations because people were stranded in the dead
winter due to two railroads fighting over ticket prices.
I don't think we will have the Woodrow Wilson effect here of nationalizing
the Internet but when the US economy starts to hurt (which probably will
happen at this rate of IPv6 adoption) the US government will have to step up
its role to protect the US economy. We should start thinking of how to get
involved with the government at an earlier stage before everybody else does.
I am speaking here about US chapters getting involved.
