Hello Sabrina, Eudardo

ISOC India Chennai was chartered as a chapter covering the geographical
regions of Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Out of the 120
members of ISOC India Chennai, 34 members are from Bangalore (Karnataka).
Chapter membership grew from 40 members in 2007 to 120 as on date.

We have had two meetings in Bangalore and a OneWebDay event last year in a
college campus with participation of 150 students. Last year the members
from Bangalore took interest in developing the Chapter web. One of the
Chapter officers - Satyadhyan Chickerur is from Bangalore; Vinayak Hegde,
who was awarded the IETF fellowship to Stockholm is a member from Bangalore
and some post-IETF outreach activities were discussed with him which would
take place in Bangalore to reach out to the Opensource and other IT
community in Bangalore to encourage them to take part in IETF work.

Geographically, Bangalore city is 20 kilometers from the border of Tamilnadu
and there is a close interconnection between the IT community in Bangalore
and Chennai.

It is good to see a group of professionals in Bangalore coming forward to
take interest in ISOC. If Chapter support could advise them to take part in
ISOC as part of ISOC India Chennai it would certainly give the Chennai
chapter further strength. After the Chennai chapter takes further shape
with a range of activities in Bangalore city, Chennai could think of
bifurcating the Chapter into two of three - one Chapter in chennai, one in
Hyderabad, one in Bangalore, but right now considering this a new chapter
application clashes with the existing structure and membership of ISOC India
Chennai.

Thank you
Sivasubramanian Muthusamy
ISOC India Chennai.
