Greetings,

As part of the process of writing the Chapter Handbook, I am often in
search of examples and/or best practices in specific areas. The
following are three areas that I am currently drafting. If you have
experience in any of these areas, I would appreciate hearing from you.

1. Special Interest Groups (sometimes known as Chapter Committees)
Do your members have the option to join groups or committees that are
designed to meet their specific interests or needs? For example, do
you have committees or special interest groups focused on the adoption
of IPv6? Security issues? Policy issues? If so, please write and let
me know what "special interest groups" your Chapter offers, what types
of activities those groups or committees are engaging in (informal get-
togethers? formal presentations? projects?), how your membership is
responding to this type of benefit, and what advice you may have for
other Chapters interested in creating special interest groups or theme-
based committees.

2. Social Media
Is your Chapter utilizing social media, such as Facebook, Linked-In,
or Twitter? If so, let me know which ones you are using and why you
think using social media is important for your Chapter's growth and
success. Please be as specific as possible about what you're doing and
what the results have been.

3. Inter-Chapter Partnerships
While researching Chapter activities, I've come across several
examples of Chapters collaborating with or helping other Chapters. In
some cases, it is simply a case of one Chapter setting up a Web site
or an e-mail list for another Chapter. In other cases, Chapters are
working together to create an event or launch a project. If your
Chapter is partnering (either formally or informally) with another
Chapter, please write and describe the nature of the partnership,
including how the partnership came to be (did you approach another
Chapter or did they approach you?), what you are doing for each other,
and how well it is working.

Feel free to e-mail your responses to me directly at rickard at rickardgroup.com
. I am also available to talk by phone or Skype.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Wendy
