Now that it has been officially announced/launched, I wonder what
everyones thoughts are on this new venture?

It seems to me that there are several overlaps with the goals of the
Internet Society and the work that the IETF and ISOC chapters are
doing.  (http://www.webfoundation.org/programs/)
