Hello,

For your reference, here is a press release that we will be issuing
shortly in support of the ISOC-organized panel at IETF 74 mentioned
earlier on this list.

We anticipate additional news releases as the IETF meeting approaches,
and will share those via this list as well.

'NETWORK CITIZENS': UNPRECEDENTED PANEL OF INTERNET ARCHITECTS TO
DISCUSS ANTICIPATED STAGES OF IPV6 ADOPTION

The Internet to Get a Unique Upgrade

WASHINGTON, D.C. - March --12, 2009 -- A first-of-its-kind panel
discussion about stages of change for adopters of IPv6 (Internet
Protocol version 6) will be held on Tuesday, March 24, in conjunction
with a meeting of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

This is the first time the Internet Society (ISOC) has held an event
open to journalists in conjunction with an IETF meeting. IETF meetings
are where more than 1,100 Internet architects from around the world
come together three times a year to work on the development of
Internet protocols.

Convened by the Internet Society and moderated by ISOC's Chief
Internet Technical Officer, Leslie Daigle, the "Network Citizens"
panel will be comprised of top Internet engineers who are leading the
way on deployment of IPv6, the next-generation protocol that will
enhance the number of possible Internet addresses and augment Internet
security.

Technology journalists attending this event will hear a luncheon
discussion among leading network technologies about how the changeover
to IPv6 will be received by businesses and consumers worldwide.

"This is a new, critical area of discourse on IPv6," says Lynn St.
Amour, President and CEO of the Internet Society (ISOC). "By hosting
this panel, we expect to address many of the questions we hear with
respect to why and how IPv6 should be deployed. Our goal is to help
debunk many myths and in so doing significantly spur deployment of
IPv6."

The panel will explain seven steps to dealing with this change--each
to be covered by an expert on the Internet. Among the stages:

*	Denial: "My network/connection is just fine, thank you. I don't need
to pay attention to all this upheaval."

*	Anger: "Why should I have to bear the burden of upgrading my network?"

*	Bargaining: "I'll just put in another NAT."

The group also will discuss the tipping point of IPv6 deployment--
acceptance--and what it will take to get there.

Since seating is limited, early reservations are encouraged for the
panel discussion. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday,
March 24 in Grand Ballroom A of the Hilton San Francisco Hotel.
