Hello all:

This is the July update for the ongoing ISOC AMS project.

AMS Chapter Portal Demonstration

The ISOC AMS project reached a major milestone this week with the
live, online demonstration of the alpha-version AMS Chapter Portal.
This is an early version of what will be deployed in October, and the
primary reason for the demonstration was to reach out to the Chapter
Steering Committee and actively solicit feedback on the system as it
stands today.

Here is a snapshot of what was demonstrated on July 21st:

1) Member self-sign-up (including sign-up for a Chapter)
2) Chapter officer reviewing and approving Member application
3) Chapter officer adding Members (and resulting real-time duplicate
checking)
4) Chapter membership renewal workflow
5) Self subscription management (subscribe/unsubscribe)
6) Chapter officers create meetings for chapter
7) Reporting capability for chapters

Of the features above, only 1) and 2) are currently possible in the
current Q portal. The other points are all new functionality with the
new AMS Chapter portal.

It was a lively online session, and attendees provided good feedback
on where the group sees the portal (and the AMS itself) needs
improvement. However, it was generally accepted that this portal is a
significant step forward from the current portal, and offers better
underlying technology.

Another demonstration of the updated portal will be scheduled for late
August, for a wider chapter audience.

AMS Project web page

In addition to the demonstration, a few new web pages have been set up
for the AMS project:

Project Overview: http://www.isoc.org/membership/AMS/
Project FAQ: http://www.isoc.org/membership/AMS/faq.shtml

Screenshots of the new portal will be added to the AMS Project web
pages soon.

Overall Project Progress

Besides the chapter portal demo and project web page, here are the
highlights of this period:
* Shift in project focus from back end of Aptify to web portal

* Opportunities and other Salesforce.com data imported into system

*   Initial Drupal/Aptify Proof-of-Concept meetings are successful;
show good interoperability

* German Moreno (new ISOC DBA/Developer) attends Administrator and
Developer classes

* Fields and Products sufficient to accept Donations are configured
in Aptify

* Initial discussions around portal training for chapters begun

* Initial UAT with Membership group for workflows and dashboards

And coming up for August:

* Focus on eBusiness localisation for next period
* Test server becomes only platform until October
* Lincoln probably back in Reston early August
* Primary UAT for Aptify back end (workflows and dashbords) begins
* Second portal demonstration to wider audience
* Concerted planning for training begins

As before, please write to ams-project at isoc.org for more information.

Thanks --

Lincoln
