Hello Bill,
I agree with Frank's comments. Just a few suggestions from me.
IPv6-1 document
The document uses HTML links to RIRs and other organisations' web
sites. The prose would flow better if the HTML links would not be
preceded by "here", which would be replaced by "on" or "at".
Part IV: Standards: update next IETF meeting is in San Francisco (or
the one after that, if SF date will have passed). It might also be
good to add "International" in several places to make it sound less
US-centric. In fact, perhaps a mention of more than one IETF meeting
locations will show that IETF is not US-centric.
Also - it might be good to mention how many chapters ISOC has around
the world - this ties in with what Frank has said.
UCI document
Mentions "This "network of networks" is enjoyed and shaped by an
increasingly diverse range of players"
Not sure about the use of the term "players". I know I am nit picking,
but the Internet is used today for very serious work. It is one of the
world's essential tool for communication, be it for data, but
increasingly so for voice and video - and this is only possible thanks
to its unequalled potential for creativity allowing any type of
traffic to be carried. The Internet is, by its very open nature, a
creator of wealth worldwide, both directly and indirectly.
Does not mention perceived threats to the Internet model:
- Spam
- Illegal activities - counterfeit goods & the like
- Illegal activities - Intellectual Property issues
- Illegal activities - child pornography
All of which are used by advocates of a more controlled network
against the Internet's open & fundamental model. I think that one has
to show that whilst these threats are real, steps are being taken and
work is being undertaken to have the Internet of today evolve in a
more secure, user-friendly Internet.
That's all I've got time for today.
Warm regards,
Olivier
