Hello
ISOC India Channai Internet Standards Working Group
In India, especially in this region we have a huge community of technically
well educated ICT professionals who do take part in Developer communities
(for e.g. Open Solaris, FOSS, Linux communities) , but these communities
typically are Open source operating system / application development
related.
With the idea of exposing the local technical community to the larger task
of Internet Technical Standards, we have formed a working group to work on a
program to reach out to the local ICT community. Programs would inclued
Talks on ISOC and Internet Technical standards and about India's potential
to participate and contribute to the Internet Architecture. Members of the
group are to organize micro-events such as a Talk to a small group within a
large company, or a Talk to a Developer community on interesting topics such
as DNS security, IPv6, Internet Architectural principles or even think of
DVD screenings such as a screening of Jonathan Zittrain's Future of
Internet. The "Talks" could be led by technically qualified members.
In the process the group members will work on ISOC India Chennai's
contribution to Internet Architecture as also connect local experts with the
Internet Technical Community and the Internet working groups and processes.
Would be helpful if some of the Chapter-Delegates from other Chapters with
expertise in participation in IETF events etc. become part of this mailing
list to give an initial orientation on ISOC values and the Internet Model.
