Dear Chapter Delegates and Members,

As you are probably aware, the US Department of Commerce’s National
Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) recently
issued a Notice of Inquiry seeking public comments regarding the
deployment of Domain Name and Addressing System Security Extensions
(DNSSEC) into the Internet’s DNS infrastructure, including the
authoritative root zone. *Comments are due by November 24, 2008.*
The Notice of Inquiry is now available online at <www.ntia.doc.gov>.
Please note that it is essential to read both the Notice of Inquiry
and the material posted under the heading "DNS Security Supporting
Materials."

ISOC is planning to respond to this Notice of Inquiry, in order to
emphasize the importance of signing the root. A small team has begun
to work on the response. As work progresses, it would be very useful
to hear from you what are your top concerns regarding the
implementation of DNSSEC, so that we can work with those in preparing
the ISOC response.

To be certain that we are able to meet the November 24 deadline,
please be sure to send your comments as soon as possible, but not
later than end of your day, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2008.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Bill Graham and Leslie Daigle
