Dear Chapter Delegates,

I wanted to let you know that we have prepared a letter from ISOC to
WTSA delegates and three Fact Sheets that will also be submitted to
the Assembly. Most of this material is now posted to the ISOC web
site linked through from the front page news headlines. We have
translations into other languages under way now, which will also link
from the site. You may know people from your governments or other
organizations who are also going to be involved in WTSA, so please
feel free to circulate this information to others who may find it
useful.

The opening page is a note to ISOC members explaining briefly what the
WTSA is, what ISOC is hoping to accomplish, and suggests what you
might be able to do to help. The link to the fact sheets is at the
bottom of that opening page statement.

The Fact Sheets are on the following topics:

-- Internet Standards
-- IPv6 Implementation

One more piece will be posted tomorrow. As you are probably aware,
for some time we have been using a powerpoint slide showing the
Internet model -- the interrelations among the major bodies that make
up the Internet's standards and governance mechanisms. We have a new,
graphic representation that updates and clarifies some things that
weren't working so well in the original version. I expect that will
be posted on the site tomorrow, and hope you will take a look at it.
We are posting a simplified version for the purposes of WTSA, and a
more complete, detailed version will be completed soon.

ISOC's participation in the WTSA, and in the Global Standards
Symposium on October 20, mark a new level of engagement with the ITU
standardization sector. We hope our being on site to talk directly to
delegates and these Fact Sheets will prove to be useful. I think the
Fact Sheets will have lasting value for use in a number of forums, and
so I'd be happy to hear your comments so they can be improved for
future use.

Regards

Bill
