Dear Oliver,

I agree almost 100% with your observation and conclusions
regarding ITU.

I have just one remark: many of the RFCs in the area of
security are using a lot from the X.500 standard that was
produced within CCITT,  Especially they are now important
(the certification part (X.509)  and the digital signatures and
the work of IETF WG on PKIx) in
setting up the DNSSES deployment at the Internet root servers
and other security related protocols such as TLS,IPsec,
HIP ect. This is good example of cross fertilization of the
engineering efforts so it should continue if an interest
exists on both side for the benefit of all of us.

I support your idea for publication of papers about
ISOC and IETF efforts for the Future Internet
in ACM and IEEE journals. This is certainly beneficial
for the society in large and all involved
researchers in this field.
