[Chapter-delegates] ISOC Elections result

I think Khaled has proposed an excellent idea. The Disability and Special
Needs Chapter would welcome the opportunity to network face to face with
other chapters about accessible design issues. The new Convention or treaty
on Rights of Persons with Disabilities has entered into full legal force
with significant accessible ICT obligations to be carried out by the
countries that have signed it. At last count, 128 countries have signed the
treaty and are to align their laws and policies to the treaty provisions.
Accessible web design is an important requirement to be addressed.

Best regards,

Cynthia Waddell

Just to say that think about it as a "Team building" or "capacity building"
thing and not as an event or conference where we will need to bring people
from outside ISOC and discuss and speak about technical or policy issues.
Its just for ISOC Chapters delegates, ISOC Staff, ISOC Board, and eventually
the Advisory council : All in the same place for 2 or 3 days. The objectives
are : trainings, capacity building, social networking, team building.
I am not against reviving INET but for me it's another concept independent
from what we are seeking for.

Dear Frank Martin,

Needs to be scaled up into a Global event it ought to be. A more detailed

Hello Fred Baker and Martin,

I looked at the INET page, it looks like a wonderful event, which was
unfortunately discontinued as poined out Fred, due to the macro economic
environmental changes of the times.

Had ISOC continued with this as an annual event, ISOC would have emerged
far, far more stronger.

I think we should bring it back. This should be a grand event, carefully
planned, should bring in Internet professionals from the world over, the IT
industry, government and research groups, should be a huge event, for four
days as INET 2001 with one or two hours of concurrent meetings happening on
the sidelines for ISOC insiders.

Can ISOC's Board and Staff take a look at this again? If you give us the
initial encouragement, we can organize this event in Bangalore or Goa,
India, with a local participation of at least 3000 people, not counting
overseas participation. Could be an ISOC global, broadly adminstered by ISOC
Global or by a committee of chapter delegates from worldwide, actively
organized by us as the local chapter.

Say yes, and we will draw up a concept and an overall plan for the first
of the new series of INET annual conferences....
