[I have again taken the liberty of reformatting Anne's message]

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to extend a warm invitation to you to join a new
initiative in 2008 called the ISOC Sphere project. The
project is a key activity in the Stakeholder Relationships
section of the Chapter Development Plan.

The name of the project, Sphere is derived from the shape of a
geodesic dome, which is the only man-made structure that grows
stronger while it grows bigger, where the inter-connected
elements are highly dependent on one another and working
together. The project seeks to develop the relationships between
ISOC Chapters and ISOC Global. It is expected that three or four
key initiatives will emerge from the work that will progress and
develop relationships. The overarching goal is to make the best
use of ISOCs collective skills and talents to advance the mission
and activities of the organization. We would like to invite you
to join the Sphere project. All participation is voluntary.
There is no limit to the number of participants per chapter.

The project is expected to last for approximately one year and
will be facilitated by Tim Gartside, an experienced multi-
cultural group worker. More details about Tim and his work can
be found on his Linkedin profile at:
http://www.linkedin.com/profile?goback=%2Econ&viewProfile=&key=11851921&jsstate=.conbro_0_*51_false_*2_465
[ http://tinyurl.com/yqqo5h - Registration required]

Full details about the project and what it means for you if you
volunteer can be read on the chapter wiki (you will need to login -
please email myself or Sabrina if you do not have your login details)
at: http://wiki.chapters.isoc.org/tiki-index.php?page=Sphere+Project

In summary, the project will have 3 phases. These sessions are
laid out below. The interviews in phase 1 will be anonymous but
not confidential.

Phase 1 - The Purpose of this phase is to gather
information on how to develop the relationship between ISOC
Global and ISOC chapters. It will consist of Individual phone
consultations with volunteers and Tim, the consultant.
Consultations will commence in the week beginning Monday 4th
Feb.

Phase 2 - The purpose of this phase is to develop and explore
the themes that have emerged in consultations. This will
eventually lead to progressive steps and tangible activities
with work being done in smaller groups. Virtual online
e-meetings will be used to progress the conversations. Face-to-
face meetings (which are supplementary to the main on-line
meetings) will be held alongside regional meetings. This will
take place from May through to June.

Phase 3 - Develop and support the activities of the workgroups
emerging from both virtual and face-to-face meetings leading
to recommendations and eventual implementation. Online e-meetings
will take place to provide support and follow up. This phase is
expected to last from July until September.

If you are interested in joining the project,
you can sign up on the table found at the wiki page referenced
above. Alternatively you can email mailto:sphere-project-admin at isoc.org.
Initial interviews will commence the week beginning Monday 4th
February and will run through until Thursday 21 February. Myself,
Sabrina, Dawit and Sebastian are available to assist you during
this project. If you have any questions or queries please do
not hesitate to contact any of us. We look forward to your active
participation.

Best wishes, Anne
